Course Description
AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System) is a payment service developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that enables customers to make financial transactions using their Aadhaar number, which is linked to their bank account. The service allows for banking transactions through business correspondents (BCs) or micro ATMs, even in remote areas without traditional bank branches.
Key Features:
- Secure Transactions: Uses Aadhaar number and biometric authentication (fingerprint or iris scan) for secure transactions.
- Financial Inclusion: Aims to provide banking services in rural and underserved areas.
- Interoperability: Works across all participating banks in India.
- No Debit/Credit Cards Required: Transactions are done directly with Aadhaar number and biometric data.
Services Offered:
- Cash withdrawal
- Balance inquiry
- Mini statement
- Fund transfer (intra-bank only)
AEPS is particularly beneficial in rural areas where access to banking infrastructure may be limited, but where Aadhaar authentication can facilitate secure and accessible banking services.
